Intermediate Obedience Class
Purpose: To continue your pet's education
and prepare you for our Advanced Class, this class is designed for dogs who have
completed Puppy or Basic Obedience and are wanting to go on to Advanced Obedience
for competition or fun. The purpose is to continue the solid foundation of communication
between dog and owner by introducing advanced and distance-obedience commands.
This class further develops a happy, thinking dog who enjoys working with people
and is easy to be around.
Content:
This class is 6 weeks long, meeting one hour each week. Homework is given
at each class to be worked on and mastered for the following week. Commands to
be mastered include: Proper Heeling, Focus, Reinforced Stays, and Distance Obedience.
This class to prepare the team for Advanced Class and competition.
Teaching Method:
The class is taught with positive motivational techniques using food,
verbal, and physical praise. Some correctional work may be introduced to further
the compliance that will need to be displayed in the ring. Again, there are four
phases to dog training: Teaching, Training, Proofing, and Trailing. This class
covers the Proofing and Trailing aspects.
Equipment:
You will need a flat collar, a 6 foot lead (we recommend leather), a fanny
pack/bait bag, training treats, and toy.
